Claes Bang

is the Danish actor

and musician,

known for his roles in film and television,

such as The Square, The Northman,

Bad Sisters, The Great Arch and Dracula.

 

Since the end of 2023,

Claes and I have been making songs

for his This Is Not America project.

We have made 20 so far.

​

Claes is in Denmark, 

or on a film set somewhere else in the world,

and I'm working from Cape Town.

​

Claes writes and records his song ideas,

and then sends me the separates

for the ideas that he has created.

​

I go through them all,

keeping the elements I feel are working,

replacing parts that I know can be improved upon sonically,

or adding new parts that pop into my head.

​

We pass ideas between each other,

until everything fits, and we are both happy.
